Here are my two samples that Judy-Sue assigned me. She and her team at the studio suggested many things, and I tried to incorporate them all. Some of things they said were: that I needed a main character, that for the trade market the work couldn’t be as decorative, and to have some breathing room. They also thought I should experiment with a wash of color in the background and to try using a colored paper for the cut part. I’m off to mail these to the studio and will have my fingers crossed that they come close to what they want.

These are really interesting Ingrid! A creative path to take from your current style. I think the subject matter really makes this style successful… water and sea plants call for the wash/painterly style. Love the hedge hogs too. These could make a wonderful children’s book: “What’s Under There?” under water…under ground… etc.

LOVE!! They remind me of linoleum cuts.
