on high, I’ve finished my wrapping! Hallelujah! In years past, I’ve left this task until Christmas Eve and it is not enjoyable to wrap that late. I had the perfect wrapping station, on my ’30’s table and benches. The sunlight was streaming in, the music was festive and kids were back to school after yesterday’s snow-day. Now to bake some more cookies, clean the house and make sure I have the fixings for Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas Day dinner. As a child I never thought about these things, I guess that’s why kids find this time of year so magical.
Judging by my last photo, I should add, washing the dining room table-cloth to the list! Hope all your preparations are going well!

for sure! Last night and earlier today our corner of RI got hit with over a foot of snow. It looks like a winter wonderland. I walked Archie around 12:30 when it had stopped snowing and it was a very festive atmosphere in the neighborhood. Everyone was out shoveling or returning home from sledding. How nice that the storm happened on the weekend, when most people didn’t have to go to work or be anywhere. I made some cocoa with whipped cream and muffins for our mid-morning treat. For lunch we had tuna melts and if I had tomato soup, I would have served that as well. Yesterday I baked molasses cookies and chocolate chip shortbread. Right now I have a pot roast in the oven. Yes, this kind of weather means comfort food to me! Could you tell? Good thing you burn 13% more calories in the cold!

Aren’t these mugs sweet? I got them at Savers for .49 and they are from L.L. Bean.

Hmm, where to start. It went fine but it wasn’t as successful as the fall show. The energy, flow and interaction with the people wasn’t as intense and active. It could be that being inside in the Convention center, which is nowhere near as charming and pretty as being on Benefit Street in the natural light and air could be a big factor. Basically it is a huge space, with bright artificial light and high, high ceilings, it sort of felt like being in a casino, in the respect that you had no indication of the time of day or world outside. Also the music that was played throughout the long day varied from being annoying, to just an assault to the ears at times. Not conducive to holiday shopping in my eyes/ears. I have to say the unloading, checking in and reloading after the show went very smoothly thanks to the professional staff provided and the RISD staff as well. I have to say a big, big thank you to Michelle to all her help, support, humor and good ideas yesterday. Thank you to all who stopped by to say hello and to those who bought work. Would I do the show again, yes and next time we will lay out the booth so that we won’t have to crawl under the table to get in and out of it! You can see our escape route from the rumpled table-cloth, oops. I have lots of merch left so if you need a gift stop by my etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Ingridlouise or drop me an email.

workshop. I’ve been having so much fun working on this doll for Sophia. I hope she doesn’t read this, but I don’t think she will. Yesterday I spent a wonderful morning and afternoon with Doreen. We had an intense Christmas shopping spree. I found Mr. Kitty’s suitcase at Goodwill as well as some other good thrifting finds. This Saturday is the RISD Holiday sale, and I will have lots of paper cuttings there, that will make great gifts. It is held in the Providence Convention Center. I’ve made new birdie hearts at a lower price point, they can be personalized and come in an 8 x 10 frame. Check out my etsy site if you want more info http://www.etsy.com/shop/Ingridlouise.

It’s been awhile bloggy. We have had such computer troubles, which I do hope are behind us. I have some new images to post and talk about, but I can’t locate the camera’s cable! If it isn’t one thing it’s another. I am very happy to report that I am in the CHRISTMAS mood and spirit. Right now I have a German apple cake cooling and a Stollen baking. On the 1st the kids and I broke out the Spritz gun and made our first Christmas cookies of the season. We have since made a batch of Lebkuchen. We had never made them before and they came out great. I’ve been decorating and working on a Christmas gift surprise, which is so fun. It involves sewing, which has been such a nice change of pace from cutting paper. Well, I’ll end this here, but a big thankyou to my loyal readers, who have been faithfully checking this spot. Oh, and not to do with anything but I’m listening to Paolo Nutini, These Streets and it is a fabulous CD. He is Scottish and had a big hit called ‘New Shoes’ back a while. Pandora introduced me to his other songs and I love them!

Happy Thanksgiving! If everyone is healthy and well, we will be spending it in Connecticut. Can you feel Christmas’ hot breath on the back of your neck. I sure can. I just don’t want it all to go by too quickly. ‘Stop that Train’ by John Mayer is like my anthem. Speaking of songs, Shari sent me the Glee soundtrack and it is so good! And that’s coming from someone who is anti-musical. I don’t have a credit for the above Illustration, but I love it.

The weekend was very busy, and I felt like I needed a make-up day this morning. I should be grateful that everyone is at school and I should in theory, be able to get work done. Saturday’s sale was pretty good. I had no real expectations, other than to make my entrance fee and I did better than that. Yesterday I cleaned and caught up on housework and laundry. I had also promised to take Sophia to the library, oh and we needed to go the supermarket. I didn’t sit down until 8:45 pm. The house is now clean but I don’t know if it was worth the work and time, when it is so very fleeting. Several times I mentally and said aloud that I was waving my white flag on the mess and Motherhood. Sigh.

I wanted to post earlier in the week, but we have had some computer bugs that involved a lot of troubleshooting. I think we’re now virus-free. In the meantime, I have been getting my work ready for today’s show, here in Wakefield at the Elk’s Club. It is from 1- 5 and the address is 60 Belmont Avenue. I don’t know what kind of turn out it will be, but I’ll be happy if I break even. Last night I was framing and organising. A good thing to do, so now I am in better shape for the RISD holiday sale. If anyone reading this would like me to send them a postcard, with directions and details for the show, just let me know.
Here are a new flock of birds. I dropped six off at Studio Hop and they sold out in one day!

Today I did some holiday themed hearts. I’ll be bringing a new bunch of work to Studio Hop tomorrow. This weekend they celebrate their 9th anniversary and have a sale to boot. I’m looking forward to seeing all the new work. Congratulations Nina! If you are local go and see the shop, 810 Hope Street, Providence, and do go next door to 7 Star’s bakery. I’m already thinking of getting a sticky bun tomorrow.
Love having the extra table space to work on!
