Where have I been? This month has really gone by quickly. We had a good weekend. Marc and Andrew spontaneously went to Foxboro yesterday to send off the Pats with good wishes. They were joined by about 30,000 other fans! Marc said a woman had brought her dog with a Tom Brady doll riding on his back. I was almost in tears listening to his description and lucked out by seeing her and the dog on the evening news. The doll was holding a Patriots flag as well. Andrew had some sunday night blues so we made cupcakes last night and divided up the 24 that the mix made with friends in the neighborhood. My cupcake pan was working overtime, as I had made blueberry muffins for breakfast. I have been freezing all day today, ugh and I think my ears got windburned on this afternoon’s walk. That’s the latest here.

a wool sweater, a floral top and a leather belt. Today Sophia went to our favorite consignment shop, One More Time. I had been eyeing the sweater and was too cheap to buy it when it was $14 bucks. I have a bee in my bonnet to make a Valentine cardigan. Well today it was marked down to $4! The blouse is for Fi and the belt for me. Now is the time to get great bargains at consignment shops. Just like regular retailers they need to get rid of their winter inventory and make way for Spring merch. Let’s hope the crafty muses are with me and it comes out cute. This is what I was experimenting with, in paper. Tonight the Mr. and I are going out for dinner and a movie. I think we are going to see The Descendants, if anything it will be a cheap trip to Hawaii.

Hello dear readers. It’s friday! Yay! We had an exhausting morning. Sophia had an appointment in Providence at Hasbro Children’s hospital to meet with a pediatric orthopedist nurse practitioner. But first we had to find her. Oy, the rain and finding the right building in the rain and then finding a parking lot that we could actually park in. I have to say everyone we asked or who kindly approached us (we must of looked like two lost lambs) were extremely friendly and helpful. Then when we were in the right building we took the wrong elevator and were on the wrong side of the building, then we discovered we were on the wrong floor, again oy. Well we finally made it and met with N.P Clark. She was so very kind and personable. And she wants an mri of Sophia’s spine. During our visit Sophia broke down and all her frustrations with our ‘journey’ to find out the cause to her gait and foot problem came to a head. I was so grateful to have N.P Clark calmly and compassionately listen to Sophia’s fears and general fed-up-ness. So we are waiting for that mri to get approved by our health insurance. Can I throw another oy in. Thank you. On our way home I quickly ran into Utrecht to exchange some ‘new’ (expensive) x-acto blades. They are supposed to stay sharp longer but they were so stiff and I had a tough time getting them to move through the paper. I quickly bought my usual blades, I had only tried the new-fangled ones because they were out of my usual brand. We also stopped at Trader Joe’s and Aldi, and then the library. So we are all set for a weekend of good things to eat, watch and read. Tonight we are going to see the documentary on Bill Cunningham from the New York Times. I’ve heard wonderful things about it. Here is the last of my twin pieces. I’m not 100% about it. But happy I fulfilled my goal.

Hello on this January Thursday. Only one more morning until I can sleep in and I am looking forward to it! Here is another birth announcement paper cutting in my twin series. I was inspired by these rocking dories. So cute. An old friend just had her third child, this time a little girl. I’m thinking on a papercutting to celebrate their children. Let’s hope I can get a good idea for it. Not much else is news, although did go to yoga today. I hadn’t been in so long and I had a good time and was glad I went.

Here is the second twin birth announcement in the series I’m working on. They are fun to do and a good way to exercise those baby cravings that can sprout up now and then. This one can feature the parents initials, ‘carved’ into the tree trunk. Upstairs to the studio, to work on number 3.

Hello, here the sun is shining, the temperature is mild and just about all the snow has melted. Makes you think of spring! I am working on a twins series. I hope to submit one of them to a popular blog as give-away, with the idea that I would get more interest and hits to my website and blog. It would be great to get some commissions as well. Fingers crossed, I have a commission for a family beach scene. I am waiting for photos so I can get started. It will be sort of this idea that I did for our Christmas card a few years ago. So that’s what’s happening here.

victory for the Pats! It was so close, not that I was watching but I am happy for my two fans. Sophia and I countered the football viewing by watching Downton Abbey and North and South. She is becoming just as much a period piece fan as her dear ol’ ma. Sniff, it’s nice to have shared passions with your kids. I don’t know how long it will last but I am appreciating it while it lasts. We have also been so hooked on this song (you can see the video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UVNT4wvIGY. I am a huge fan of sad love songs and this one is so catchy to boot. The singer Gotey is so bubbly in interviews and very different from the broody role he portrays in the video. Speaking of broody, if you liked Darcy in Pride and Prejudice, the Mr. Thornton of North and South will be right up your alley. I will leave you with our own brooder, Mr. Finkly.

Snowy Saturday

Well they were right, we did get about 6 or more inches of snow. I kept thinking it would peter out and it ended up snowing hard all day! Today it is sunny and beautiful. We were basically in slug mode yesterday. Sophia and I baked these ‘Heavenly brownie cookies’ which we added Andies mint chips. I only had 1 and hope I can restrain from eating more. They are good, but very rich. We watched too much t.v. but it was very relaxing. Today is ‘the’ football game for the boys, it will be either heartbreak or jubilation depending on how the Patriots play. Let’s hope for the jubilation!

that the snow came today, and not yesterday. Our trip to Boston went pretty well. I learned from our first trip and this time I knew how to pay our parking ticket and getting directions before leaving the garage. This time our directions led us to Sturro drive and then the Mass Pike. I wanted to take 93 and stop for dinner at the Braintree Mall. Sadly that didn’t happen and man did we hit traffic! We even hit traffic in Providence and by then it was 7:30! But enough of that, Sophia’s appointment went well. They definitely feel that her left leg is weaker than the other. We see an orthopedic specialist next Friday, in Providence (yay). But the Boston doctors have scheduled an EMG/NCS test, which is an electromyography of nerve conduction study for that leg. So that’s the latest. Meanwhile we have snow here and it has been at it for the last 3 hours. I’ve been putting off walking the dog, but it doesn’t look like it is going to let up. I guess I have to channel my inner inuit and brave the weather!

The week is just rolling along. Today Andrew finished building his first model from the super duper erector set that my Dad gave him for Christmas. He built this plane. It was a CHALLENGE! Oh my word, the tiny nuts and bolts, but what a sense of accomplishment. His years of building lego sets served him well. We also picked up Miss fi’s new glasses and she got a haircut as well. I was thrilled that we could get both errands done in about an hour. We have one more appointment in Boston this Friday with the neurologist. Fingers crossed everything will continue to improve and look fine. In baking news I made an apple pie late this afternoon, further jeopardizing my attempts at eating healthier and or cutting back. BIG sigh. Maybe it will be easier to get back on track once I get past Valentine’s day. Again, SIGH.
